Moving Up North!
Welcome to the north! I moved up here a couple of years ago and totally get how overwhelming it is to get settled—especially when you don’t know where anything is. I found Northern Ontario Local Business Directory early on, and honestly, it helped so much. It’s basically a big list of local businesses organized by town and service, and it made it way easier to find all the basics like groceries, haircuts, and home services. I even found a small dog groomer and a local plumber that way—stuff that would’ve taken weeks to track down otherwise. What’s nice is that it cuts out the big corporate listings and focuses on businesses actually in our communities. No random listings from Toronto mixed in. I’d definitely say give it a try—it’s a great way to get familiar with your new area.
Ahhh perfect timing—I’ve only been here a few weeks and was just telling my partner how lost I feel trying to figure out where to go for everyday stuff. Google’s not cutting it, especially with all the sponsored junk. I hadn’t come across Northern Ontario Local before but wow, it looks like a lifesaver. Just bookmarked it and I’m already spotting a few places I want to check out. This is exactly what I was looking for, seriously.
